Don't forget "AddOns" options button, bottom left on character selection screen.
Check it to make sure the ones you want to use are checked.

We do have quite a lot online everytime I play, but mostly in the higher areas like Dalaran.

I don't PVP so I'm in for ALL of it being cross-faction - but I am not holding my breath for that. We loved it on my old long dead server.

I am not sure that was the case. I was in the area just by the Taunka area farming caribou, the steamy area. I have quested there on MANY toons and have never know it to be a free for all area - but I could be wrong - I will follow up on that.

While on orc hunter in Borean I get attacked by ally druid player Tamarisco - how is that possible if I have pvp off?

Solution: I downloaded that single file using the torrent for the full game, replaced that file and now not updating anymore.
